Walkin’ on Chalk 2025: A Community Celebration of Art

Last Updated 3/31/2025

Yesterday, Sunday, March 30th, downtown Altus came alive with creativity as Main Street Altus, in partnership with the Shortgrass Arts & Humanities Council, hosted the 21st Annual Walkin’ on Chalk Arts Festival. This beloved community tradition once again brought together talented artists, supportive sponsors, dedicated volunteers, and enthusiastic spectators for a day filled with color and inspiration.

The morning started off cool and breezy, but as the sun rose higher, so did the warmth and energy of the festival. Registration took place from 11 AM to 2 PM, with artists of all ages showcasing their skills along the sidewalks of Main Street. By 4 PM, as the event wrapped up, the highly anticipated awards were announced, celebrating the outstanding talent on display.

A special thank you goes out to the Altus Fire Department for helping us clean the sidewalks on Saturday, ensuring a fresh canvas for our participants. We also want to recognize the Kay Club girls, who have faithfully volunteered with us throughout their high school years—your dedication does not go unnoticed! To our sponsors, vendors, and the countless volunteers who made this event possible, we extend our deepest gratitude.
