The Design Committee is committed to enhancing the aesthetic and cultural vibrancy of downtown by preserving historic structures and ensuring new construction complements the area’s traditional architecture. We focus on improving the downtown streetscape, including signage, store displays, sidewalks, greenery, lighting, and parking. Our role also involves educating the community with design advice, encouraging quality improvements to private properties and public spaces, and creating incentives to motivate positive change. Through these efforts, we aim to foster a more attractive, cohesive, and thriving downtown.
The Economic Vitality Committee focuses on strengthening downtown businesses and attracting new ones. We help existing businesses expand their sales knowledge and capabilities, while providing advice and support to new business owners. The committee also works on repurposing traditional Main Street buildings for new economic uses, monitors the district’s economic performance, and maintains an inventory of buildings and businesses. Additionally, we develop recruitment materials to attract small, local businesses, fostering a diverse and sustainable downtown economy.
